MEMBERSHIP:

          Welcome to the U-Crest Fire Department. A person, to become an active member of this Company, must not be less than 18 years of age, nor over 50, of good character and sound bodily health, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Cheektowaga and the U-Crest Fire District.

PROBATIONARY REQUIREMENTS:

          The probationary firefighter will complete a Firefighter 1 course, Basic 1st Aid or EMT course with CPR, Snorkel Training, Jaws Training and Probationary Training. During such training and after completing Firefighter 1, there will be a probationary smokehouse drill, in which you may have your interior firefighter qualifications granted to you. All training and equipment are provided to the probationary firefighter free of charge.
          As a new firefighter you will be placed on a minimum of a 1 year probationary period. To be taken off of probation you must meet certain requirements. If these requirements are not met, then your probationary time may be extended. After completing your requirements and being removed from probation, there may be a meeting 2 to 3 months after such time to review the firefighter's progress.

There is no set schedule in how many classes there will be for probationary training.
The officers will decide when probationary training is and how many classes there will be.
